Rhondda mobility firm moving on up thanks to Business Support
6 Ion 2009A Tonypandy mobility service is moving on up – thanks to a grant from Rhondda Cynon Taf Council to expand on to the worldwide web.
Tonypandy Mobility Centre is the latest in a series of local businesses to receive an E-commerce Grant from the authority’s Business Support Team.
The £750 secured by the Dunraven Street shop this month has enabled owner Hussain Gilani to launch www.tonypandymobilitycentre.co.uk which showcases the range of products and services on offer at his Tonypandy premises.
As well as daily updates of the products available, Mr Gilani is also hoping to add an online shopping feature in the future so people from all over the country can purchase from the range of mobility and living aides the centre offers.
He has been in the mobility business on and off for the last 25 years and based in Tonypandy for the last 12. He says the financial assistance from the Council has been invaluable and is urging other businesses to make contact to see if they too can benefit.
He explained: "I had an old site that did not work as I wanted, but needed financial assistance in order to design and deliver a site that showcased the services I offer to the community.
"The grant from Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has enabled me to create the site I have always wanted and now we can update it as and when new products and services become available .
"As well as that, the new site has the functionality to allow people to buy online and I am hoping to introduce this service in the near future."
E-Commerce grants are one of a range available from the Council’s Business Support Team, which also offers financial assistance to start up businesses as well as grants for the improvement of commercial premises.
As well as releasing grant funding, the team also offers expert advice and signposting for all type of businesses to ensure they maximise their potential.
It also helps to run the successful Business Club, which is open to all and offers exclusive membership deals and a calendar of popular events featuring special guest speakers.
Cllr Paul Cannon, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Housing, said: "I am so pleased Mr Gilani has been able to benefit from an E-commerce grant and wish him every success with his plans for the future.
"Now, more than ever, our local businesses need as much support and assistance as possible and I am pleased we have a specialist unit on hand to offer advice and funding.
"Of course we do not have an endless supply of grants, but we are committed to providing assistance where it is needed the most
"I urge all businesses to consider how our support team can assist them, either with advice, signposting to support agencies, grants and the Business Club."
